Salman and Sohail - Strangers?

HEROES releases on 24th October all over. And since the film is a multi starrer with a huge cast and an episodic feel to it, one expects the actors on screens to be related in the same way as in real life. This is further emphasised by the fact that HEROES boasts of brother 'jodi' of Sunny Deol-Bobby Deol and Salman Khan-Sohail Khan.

However, contrary to popular misconception, Salman and Sohail aren't seen as brothers in HEROES. They play absolute strangers in the film with Salman playing the part of a Sikh army officer while Sohail enacts the role of a youngster who is on a motorcycle trip with his friend (Vatsal Seth).

What is further interesting is the fact that in each of the 5 movies that Salman and Sohail have been seen - MAINE PYAAR KYUN KIYA, SALAAM E ISHQ, GOD TUSSI GREAT HO and today's release HELLO - they have never played brothers. Guess the wait is still on to see the two Khans being truly brothers-in-arms!

Amar Akbar Anthony shelved or delayed?

Those eagerly expecting to see the three Khan brothers (Salman, Sohail, and Arbaaz) together on the big screen will have to wait a little while longer.

According to some industry insiders, the trio will not be headlining the remake of classic 70’s flick Amar Akbar Anthony. The film was announced way back in 2006 but has yet to go into production. Salman would play Anthony; Sohail would be Akbar and Arbaaz as Amar. shelved.

Says an industry source, “TIPS announced the launch of Manmohan Desai’s remake of Amar Akbar Anthony in 2006 but till now, the film hasn’t made progress. It was to start in 2009 but now the Khan brothers and David have taken a decision to shelve the film. The decision was taken after God Tussi Great Ho released. Since God Tussi didn’t do well both thought the audience might not like the Khan brothers again as it would be a case of over exposure. David Dhawan too doesn’t have dates till next year. He is also busy with the launch of his production house and his son’s career.”

The source adds, “The film ran into problems last year too with Salman making it clear that he no longer wants to be part of it as he was not happy with the role of Anthony. Salman was playing Amitabh’s role while Arbaaz was playing Amar (Vinod Khanna) and Sohail was playing Akbar (Rishi Kapoor). Salman’s girlfriend Katrina Kaif was slotted to play the role done by Parveen Babi in the original. The decision to shelve Amar Akbar Anthony was taken a few days ago but Sohail and Taurani have decided not to announce it right now as Taurani wants the schedule of his next film Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani which is being shot in Ooty to be completed smoothly.”

However, if you ask the people behind the film, then it’s still on but delays. Ramesh Taurani: “Amar Akbar Anthony hasn’t been shelved. We will start shooting in early 2009.”
Sohail Khan: “It’s not true that we have shelved the film as we brothers didn’t want to act together. Amar Akbar Anthony will start by the end of next year.”

Celebrating Ganesh Chaurthi, Khan style

Actor Salman Khan along with brothers Sohail and Arbaaz Khan celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi earlier on Wednesday at his bandra residence in Mumbai.

Every year, Salman's younger sister Arpita is known for organising the Ganpati celebrations in the Khan house. And this year the Khans have got an eco-friendly Ganesh idol to mark the day.

Actors Arbaaz and Sohail describe the event and their experience.

"The entire puja is coordinated and organised by my kid sister, Arpita. We really enjoy the festivities, as we have family that comes over. We do the rituals, dance and celebrate the festival like any other family," says Sohail.

Meanwhile, Arbaaz describes the Khan familay as a secular and cosmopolitan family.

"We are a very cosmopolitan and secular family. We have people from all faiths in our family and we respect all faiths and religions. Ganesh Chaturthi is an onther oppurtunity to show that peole are welcome in our home. They come, pay their visits and we get to meet them," says Arbaaz.

Katrina is a part of our family: Sohail Khan

Actors Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan spoke about brother Salman's relationship with Katrina Kaif at a promotion event for their brother-in-law's film Hello based on Chetan Bhagat's book One Night at a Call Centre.

The film has Sohail playing the key role with Arbaaz, Salman and Katrina making cameo appearances.

"I have a cameo, Atul wanted all the three brothers to be there," says Arbaaz.

"My character is of Vroom, and it's very well penned," says Sohail.

And while the film has managed to get the entire family on board, the question remaining was when Katrina will be an official part of the Khan household.

"Katrina is a part of the family, but I can't really say when will it be official. But they are such that when they marry, they will be dedicated to their marriage," says Sohail.

Meanwhile if Katrina is tired of Salman making the right move then she must listen to Arbaaz.

"He will just surprise the woman in his life one day, get married, and come and tell us," says Arbaaz.
