In Bollywood, out of sight is out of mind. But if you’re a Karisma Kapoor, five years of not being on the filmy scene will hardly affect your popularity. Karisma is slowly but surely sending signals of a comeback, what with a sudden emergence on the social circuit, a brilliant outing on the India Couture ramp and a big television return. The latest came from popular magazine Hello! Lolo recently featured on its cover and was listed among India’s top ten most stylish women. “Thank you, for the lovely compliment,” she was heard saying. While we totally agree that Karisma is style and elegance personified, we were slightly taken aback when the only person she gave credit for her looks to, was herself. The actress looked every bit the chic chick she now is in a charming black and white outfit at the felicitation. But we decided to go back in time a little, precisely to her Andaz Apna Apna and Raja Babu days. The garish pink lipstick, excessively bushy eyebrows, tacky sense of dressing was in stark contract to what Karisma is now. In fact, her career took a fashionable turn when style guru Manish Malhotra decided to take over. The result was a much more presentable Lolo in Raja Hindustani, followed by a continuous improvement in films like Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Zubeida etc. But Karisma seemed to have forgotten her friend. “It’s just my inner personality coming through my clothes. On screen, we have to wear the clothes given to us, but this my own choice,” she said.

Motherhood, best experience of my life: Karisma Kapoor

Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, who is back with her industrialist husband Sunjay Kapur and will soon be seen as a judge on the fourth season of 'Naach Baliye', says that being a mother has been the best experience of her life.

'Motherhood changed me a lot as it has made me more responsible and mature as a human being. Being a mother is the best experience of my life,' Karisma, who is on a long sabbatical after marriage in 2003, told IANS.

Karisma was at the top of the number game in Bollywood for half a decade churning out hits like 'Raja Hindustani', 'Dil To Pagal Hai', 'Judwaa', 'Biwi No 1' and critically acclaimed films - 'Zubeidaa' and 'Fiza'.

Karisma says she misses acting which has been her passion and the gap was just a break for her.

'I started my career at a very early age and have done all types of films. I have been lucky enough to have experimented with all kinds of roles. Being away from acting has just been a break for me,' said Karisma who started her career at the age of 17 with 'Prem Qaidi'.

She won four Filmfare awards for 'Raja Hindustani', 'Dil To Pagal Hai', 'Fiza' and 'Zubeidaa'.

Commenting upon her role as a judge on 'Naach Baliye 4', she said: 'I have consented to be judge of the show as it will not be too hectic for me. I have to shoot once or twice a week and that will leave ample amount of time to devote to my home and daughter (Samaira).'

Karisma thinks the television scene has changed drastically and gap between the small and big screen has been reduced as more and more Bollywood actors are doing TV shows.

'Most of my colleagues whom I worked with, have been on television for various shows, be it Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar or others. At the same time, many television actors have also made a mark for themselves on the big screen,' the actress said.

Karisma is open to similar kind of offers and would also not mind anchoring shows if it suits her taste.

As far as acting in films is concerned, Karisma said: 'Just wait and watch.' The actress was supposed to make a comeback with 'Lamha'.

Past perfect, Peace at last

The Bachchans seem to be in a mood to forgive and forget. Buzz is that the Kapoor sisters - Karisma and Kareena have been invited to the premiere of Abhishek Bachchan's Drona, which will be held today.

Does this mean that the discord between the Kapoors and Bachchans ever since Abhishek's engagement with Karisma ended on a bitter note finally has an amicable conclusion?

Apparently, it was Drona's director and Abhishek's childhood friend, Goldie Behl who played peacemaker.
When contacted, Goldie said, “Karisma and Kareena are my cousins.

My mother Madhu Behl (fondly known as Bubbles) was a Kapoor before marriage. She is the daughter of veteran actor Kamal Kapoor.”

Incidentally, this is the first Bachchan premiere for which the Kapoor sisters have been invited since the marital alliance between the two families ended.

The Kapoors too are willing to respond warmly to this peacemaking gesture. Kareena openly said that she would like to work with Abhishek again after their debut film, Refugee and Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon. But, Abhishek has always maintained a stoic silence.

He had refused to comment even when it was rumoured that Kareena was gently eased out of Abhishek's upcoming film, Dostana and replaced by Priyanka Chopra.

However, Abhishek too is ready to make peace. Expressing his approval of the Kapoor sisters' presence at the Drona premiere, Abhishek said, “I would love to work with Bebo (Kareena) again.

She was my first heroine and that makes her very special.” And if you thought an invitation to the Drona premiere is the only peacemaking effort between the Bachchans and Kapoors, there's more to it.

Karisma has been signed as a judge on the music reality show, Nach Baliye, which is produced by Wizcraft, who are extremely close to the Bachchans.

Wizcraft had organised the Bachchans recently concluded Unforgettable Tour. And it is highly unlikely that Karisma was considered by Wizcraft without the Bachchans' tacit approval.

Shhh! Karisma all hush about judging Nach Baliye

Celebrities taking on to the small screen is not a new thing and they are quite gung ho about it. But actress Karishma Kapoor is being highly secretive about donning the judges hat for the new season of Nach Baliye .

Though her being judge for the latest season of the dance reality show was confirmed at a press conference, where she couldn't be present as it was her wedding anniversary. But the actress left all confused whether or not she is indeed a part of Nach Baliye's fourth season.

"There's nothing confirmed yet if anythings confirmed you all will get to know," said the actress a day after the press conference.

While the confirmation will come soon, Karisma did speak about how she celebrated her wedding anniversary.

"Oh it was a small homely thing with lots of nice messages," she said.

Looking like a million bucks in denims and a white shirt, Karisma flew down from Delhi post anniversary celebrations to inaugurate the women entrepreneurs show in Mumbai on Tuesday morning.

Karisma's toned body made one wonder if she was inspired by sister Kareena and her mythic size zero figure.

"What is size zero its all about being fit," insisted the actress.

After her small screen debut, here's looking forward to Karisma's comeback to the big screen.

Following the footsteps of top self exiled actresses like Madhuri Dixit and Kajol, another name to reckon with (from the same era ) is about to make a comeback to Bollywood. And she is none other than Karisma Kapoor, one of the most popular stars of the nineties. Karisma took a break from films following marriage to industrialist Sanjay Kapoor in 2003.

Since then, rumours have been rife of a probable comeback with a number of films like Onir's YOU AND I, RAM GOPAL VARMA KI AAG, a sequel to ANDAZ APNA APNA and the Hindi remake of the Tamil film, JUNE R.

The actress had earlier denied working in any of the above projects. Karisma confesses that she has had a laid back attitude till now but is all geared up to make a comeback. She says that she is in the middle of finalizing a film and would announce it next month or so. Karisma adds that the film in question may not necessarily be a heroine-centric one but the role much to her liking.
