How Ash, Katrina had the last laugh

When best-seller Interview with the Vampire-The Vampire Chronicles was adapted into a movie, its author Anne Rice vocally expressed her displeasure over director Neil Jordan's casting of Tom Cruise as the blood-sucking Lestat.

Still, Cruise played against type masterfully, compelling Rice to take back her words. Apparently, she couldn't have asked for a better actor to play Lestat.

Case 2: A lot of hue and cry was made over Casino Royale's producers' decision to sign on Daniel Craig to step into the shoes of Agent 007. Everybody thought he was too 'bland' to play James Bond. Once Casino Royale hit the screens, it went on to do phenomenal business worldwide as well as earned critical and public acclaim for Craig's nifty, nuanced portrayal of the beloved British agent.

In both these cases, the actors had the last laugh and proved how vacuous hasty judgments and overconfident presumptions can be.

Back in Bollywood as well, there are quite a few instances of our celebrities having the last laugh. Read on:

Advantage Katrina!

Nothing succeeds like success. Katrina Kaif knows this only too well.

With practically all her films hitting jackpot at the box-office, her star value has shot up big time. It's certainly reflecting in the promotion of her upcoming offerings as well. Like in the case of Subhash Ghai's ambitious Yuvvraaj, which features Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan, the first round of posters only have Katrina plastered over them. And she's not even playing the title role.

The funny thing is when Yuvvraaj was launched, a lot of tongues wagged about how Katrina had bagged the role mainly because of her proximity to Salman. Wonder what they have to say about this?
