Filmmaker Vipul Shah initially sold the Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan starrer London Dreams to Studio 18, in what was reported as being one of the dearest ever done deals. Now, with Studio 18’s Imran Khan starrer Kidnap failing miserably at the Box Office, they (Studio 18) have backed out of distributing the film. According to insiders, Salman Khan and Vipul Shah were expecting to get Rs 120 crore for the film.
Says the insider, “Studio 18 suffered a big dent in its pocket due to the box-office failure of Kidnap. Add to this the current market crash and they decided not to venture into anything extravagant at least for the time being.”
“Studio 18 will not be distributing London Dreams now. Although Studio 18 was in talks with Vipul, they had not signed on the dotted line. But, the talks fell through because of the prevailing bleak market conditions,” says another source. Studio 18 have yet to release an official statement to this affect.
London Dreams is one of next year’s most eagerly awaited films and sees Salman and Ajay together for the first time since the much liked Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
