Ashutosh Gowariker's magnum opus 'Jodha Akbar' has won the prestigious Grand Pix award at the Golden Minbar, the film festival for Muslim cinema held at Kazan in Russia recently.
Bollywood actor, Hrithik Roshan was adjudged the best actor award for his magnificent performance as Emperor Akbar. 'Jodha Akbar' shared the best film honours with an Iranian film 'M for Mother'. The films were selected by the jury from the official section that consisted of 35 films-- ten full-length feature, 12 short-length feature and 13 documentary films, in the competition.
Gowariker said he was overwhelmed by the honour and added that he was proud of Hrithik who won the best actor award. "His portrayal of Akbar is a magnificent one, full of nuances and detailing, which is rarely seen on screen," he said.
